So why does Spiderman keep rebooting?

I get they rebooted it after the Tobey Maguire thing, but why are they ALREADY rebooting it again after the 2nd one just came out in 2014? It seems the continuity is rather... not apparent with this, and I swear if it's another origin story I will kill myself.

Thor seems to be holding up fine with this, along with Batman spanning 3 films across almost a decade with Christopher Nolan/Bale. Just seems silly how they always seem to handle Spiderman like... the worst of the Marvel movies.

I just watched The Amazing Spiderman for the first time tonight and yeah, I was just curious why they switched so quick after 2 films in less than 5 years. He was so passionate about being the actor too.

Andrew Garfield hated AS2 and skipped on a dinner event with Sony's executives. Suffice to say the odds of him reappearing in a Spider-Man-related film are nil.

They rebooted for two reasons.

1. Paramount or Sony or whatever reached a deal with Marvel/Disney for the usage of Spider-man in the MCU. So of course they would have to reboot cause not only did the Garfield ones suck. They don't fit in the MCU.

2. Sony had some kind of dispute with Sony. I haven't looked into because I don't give a shit, but I think he said mean things and Sony was just like "You're fired."

Spiderman is rebooting because Andrew Garfield majorly offended Sony executives and got fired.

Spiderman is appearing in Civil War as part of a collaboration with Sony, because he was an important part of the comic plot, but Sony said they couldn't use Andrew Garfield because they don't like him now.

They rebooted in 2012 (Or whenever AS1 came out) and made two films that weren't great. Costume design and web-swinging was fantastic but everything else was pretty awful amd nobody liked it. So they half-sold the rights back to marvel where Marvel gets to use Spidey in MCU but they get creative control over him with stuff like appearance.

So now he's in Captain America and his film, Spectacular Spider Man now has the July 2017 slot Thor Ragnarok used to have, and everything else (Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Inhumans) have all been pushed back as well.

Thing is, all SM films by sony have essentially been the same thing, they've not learned from their mistakes. FOX saw what happened with X3 and Wolverine and learned from it and made First Class and DoFP - two of the best XMen films (My two favourites) and Deadpool. All of which have been exceptionally well recieved. Sony have been trying to push the same story with the specifics switched around on everyone for years now and nobody wants it anymore.

Sam Raimi felt he couldn't get the script right for Spiderman 4 and so he told Sony it was best to pass the torch.

Marc Web decided to do a darker retelling starting over but aside from a few aspects (web swinging, Peter's interaction with his love interest, and ASM2 costume), it was less well received. Garfield was upset that higher ups fiddled with the original "perfect" script and interfered with the creative direction of ASM2. That's why he blew them off for the dinner thing mentioned earlier, which offended them. This was at a time when there was an email exchange between Marvel and Sony about shared rights of Spiderman. Marvel wanted the rights back to SM in full but Sony still wanted to bank off him and movie merchandise, so the best they'd compromise was to offer a split where they pretty much let Marvel do all the hard work and sony still gets payed large sums of money.

Disney wanted him in the MCU, plus Andrew Garfield pissed off a bunch of proud Japanese Sony execs and has since been dropped.

Probably for the best seeing as how ASM2 was pure garbage.
