So some of my files just up and vanished from my One Drive (help)

I did but nothing showed up. I might call customer service and see if it was something on their end.

That's the only thing you can do.

how do i do that

and when would my last save likely be? cuz it's been like this for a few days (2 or 3) but i only just caught on now
system restore should be in the control panel somewhere, the last point will be whenever your PC last updated something iirc

Check under system restore, sometimes it has "more restore points" or something similar.

System restore to your last save.

Generally I save my files to my computer first, then upload them to the cloud and/or delete them off my computer to make space. So a system restore would actually work for me.

So if Eli did that as well then tada his stuff will show up.

Isn't One Drive a cloud based service? If it's lost on the cloud and theres no magical way you can restore it on your last login time or something like that.....it's pretty fucking gone.

If you had read the thread, I said multiple times that I have a 2TB HDD already and it's almost full. Which explains the need for something more.

And I've also said that I use the OneDrive for files I take back and forth from my PC to my laptop.

You guys are making fun of the people who at least tried to help while providing no answers or suggestions of your own. Whatever makes you feel better about yourselves, I guess.

That's because there's nothing you can do other than call customer service and hope that they can recover it for you. And that's been suggested already.

Calling customer service was never even brought up until I said something. At least Psy and Rocket tried to help with the limited knowledge they have. You guys just sat there and did nothing but make fun of them.

because again

there's nothing you can do

You keep repeating this as if I don't know it. Your lack of assistance is not what I'm ridiculing, it's the way you responded to the people that at least tried to help when you didn't say a thing, despite knowing there was nothing I could do.

And it's not just Nuka I'm ridiculing, it's everyone that is jumping on the bandwagon against Psy and Rocket because they tried to help and failed.

I entered the thread late, dumbass.

Okay, that's fine. I don't hold it against you that you couldn't help.

Quote
And the people who were giving you advice were completely wrong.

So I guess we should just make fun of them because they don't know as much as you people? At least they tried to help. You may not have been here during this thread's first hours but you can bet your ass some of these people were. And they didn't say "Yeah, there's really nothing you can do but contact customer support. Sorry. :(" but instead opted to say nothing.

We're making a mountain out of a molehill. I just think it's a dick move.

when did I jump on this bandwagon?

It appears you actually haven't said anything, so I guess I was in the wrong. You'll have to forgive me, I assumed when you came to the defence of the people who I am ridiculing you were a part of them.

Common courtesy is "sugar coated" now?

Okay.

I think we can all learn a valuable lesson in this thread.

Buy or use an external HDD if you already have one. If its full, buy another. Cloud Storage is a massive risk taker in my personal experience, your files are not 100% guaranteed to be safe guarded by it and the more the storage space the more it can cost monthly. System restore is only useful for local files and registry keys that haven't been changed. I would recommend system restore only if you fucked up Windows somehow if you messed with reg edit.

I know to many I'm considered to be a fucking autistic retard that doesn't know when to shut the fuck up, but if you are having computer problems of any kind, ESPECIALLY if its Windows related, please do not hesitate to send me a PM.

I know my shit, I know what I'm doing. I grew up and fucked with Windows for nearly an entire decade now.

I think many people recognize your knowledge on the subject, Deci. But I'll keep that in mind if I ever need help. Thanks.

You're welcome, and its all trial and error at the end of the day. Even me being completely savvy, there are some things that could be beyond my control and you would need to take it to someone who has the necessary proprietary hardware or software to help out.

This one time a MacOSX computer at school fucked up my 4GB flash drive and some how landed the thing onto write protect mode. I could not delete or add anymore files, and its not designed to be in write protect mode at all. I even took it to the school's IT guy for help, who is really good with a lot of shit and gets paid for this kind of shit, even he couldn't find a solution.

I ended up destroying the flash drive. It was only $8 at Office Depot so it wasn't too bad. I bought a replacement 8GB of it for $10 and have been careful with Macs ever since.

Yeah honestly, I've learnt a lot in the last few years from just searching shit up on the internet. Trying things out. That was my first move when I saw my files were gone, but... oh well. Water under the bridge.

I actually need to build my own PC, the one I have is so trash.

I have been there before in the past. My computer that I've had since 2005 is in the closet now. Its a standard Dell computer. Dimension 5100. Never bought it. My brother-in-law and sister gave it to me after they got another one in 2007. Maybe it was great over 10 years ago but its utter shit for everything else aside from web browsing, and it was loud as hell. Only 1 stock fan to cool the CPU, it was not enough at all.

The computer I have no is so much better. I didn't have time to build mine, but its a prebuilt gaming rig by iBuyPower and I got pretty good specs. I actually need to upgrade the graphics card since its beginning to age, but that's the beauty of it, I can replace or upgrade any part of it.

The other computer all I was able to do was buy a 4GB stick of RAM from Frys because it only had 1GB of ram and that was horrible for Windows 7. It was an XP computer. It was 25mb of RAM each by stick. Replaced one and now its 4.75GB RAM

But yeah, I am very happy with my gaming computer. It is to this day, the most expensive piece of hardware I have ever bought in my entire life. I've had it since 2012.

Yeah, the one I'm using now is a POS built for an employee of my dad's work, so it's only really designed to do one thing: spreadsheets. Luckily I've mastered organising my files, performing routine check ups and optimising the speed of my computer at every turn.

To put how shit my computer is in perspective: my PC can't even run Pokemon Diamond and Pearl without serious lag. These are are Nintendo DS games we're talking about.

My laptop is a lot better, though.

Anything so long as its not dell or HP, with the right specs, is going to be better than that old computer you have and my old computer.

Since you talked about speeding up your system, that remind me. There is a thread I need to make on this subject. I could just post it here but I'm bored to death right now.
