it disappointed me about as much as gravity did (a lot). the plot didn't make much sense, the physics were COMPLETELY FUCKING WRONG, and the "professionals" that run the space program were incompetent and irrational idiots. also, it was 3 hours long.

2/10, would not recommend.

Damn, surprised the physics were wrong considering the film advanced the science behind black holes.

I'm no physicist, so I'm just gonna sit there watching a cool effects show with a hard sci fi tone. What interests me most is the philosophical talk about the third act of the movie though. Apparently it's 2001-y [And HOLD IT: nobody's talking quality, just in tone/scope].

the last 20 minutes of it felt like a desperate attempt to compete with 2001 (it failed miserably, imo).

ACTUAL SPOILERS
yeah, there's totally a "3 dimensional 5th dimension" within black holes, allowing us to change the past with gravity or something. that's totally scientific.

Well Mr. Silent Era did say that 2001 would be a massive influence

Also what parts of the physics were off in particular? Just curious, good to know before CinemaSins brings NDT back on to wreck it XD

Yes! And Man of Steel, and I prefer Terminator 2 to Terminator, and I think TLW wasn't bad, etc.

You shut your whore mouth, RC.

This thread is blasphemy against the great and wonderful Christopher Nolan.

Spoiler
I'm not even sure what to make of the film. I liked it enough but it wasn't the kind of thing I was hoping for. It was depressing in different ways than I thought it would be. Hoping for more of a 'fuck yeah' thing like Inception. Those creepy organs were great, though.

It's getting rave reviews by a culture that thinks they "fucking love science" because they saw a cool gif on Facebook. Don't take it scientific face-value, just enjoy the ride and set aside the knowledge that using real science would make a movie utterly boring.

I just let them run with that.

Lottsa spoilers
Spoiler
The only bits that bothered me is the fact the gamma radiation coming off that accretion disk would have irradiated everyone's balls. Miller's planet shouldn't have existed and those ice structures on Mann's planet shouldn't have been nearly that stable considering their size. Also the fact they launched the rocket from middle of their fucking work area.

Spoiler
There are physical theories(a subset of stringtheory, which I'm skeptical about) where our universe is a 3 dimensional subset of a higher dimensional bulk. Considering they were dealing w/ speculation about what's in a blackhole, god like extra dimensional beings and the fact it's a movie I just let is slide.

Kip, the physicist, only worked on the visualizations of the black hole and worm hole so I'm not surprise there were a few mistakes.

Essentially this.
