So, I found a flashdrive on my campus

I actually found three of them, all three have the same files (an mp3 file and a jpg file)
the jpg file says the following (I have replicated the spacing):

I hope you never know what I've been through. I have seen everything. And yet now (whilst fathoming every moment), I feel the same as I have since I disappeared.

The sound file sounds like it might be a Kylo Ren quote.
Anyone interested in helping me crack a mystery?

Also, I've just noticed the mp3 file was edited last night, and the text file was last edited on the 19th. These flash drives must have been distributed within the last 24 hours.

Oh, so it really was what I googled.
I wouldn't expect anyone at my university to do anything like this.
The thing is, I checked all the campus locations which would be sensible for the distribution I noticed (I tried to take as many flash drives as possible). I assumed the symbols without flash drives on them meant that they were taken, but that isn't necessarily the case, I guess. I did take pictures of each symbol and recorded where it was, though.
