what i forgot to mention was that the 18 bucks was from and to home altogether. but the 2 drivers we talked to seemed to say it's a good source of cash flow for them

Yeah, my sisters boyfriend uses uber as a secondary source of income on some of his off days when he's got nothing else to do, since uber drivers get to choose whenever they get to work. I might consider doing it once I get a car.

No, no they do not. If you are driving Uber Black it is pretty much the same as a taxi service....Though regular Uber drivers....they can pretty much get started straight off the net and start driving their own car.
