I recommend both. A lot.
Shawshank's just... I don't even know how to explain it. I'd have to rewatch it to do so.
Princess Mononoke's my favorite Ghibli film (though I watched Castle in the Sky and it made me question my Ghibli film rankings). I can see how Spirited Away is the classic, but Mononoke just feels more... epic.

I've been meaning to watch Shawshank for the loooooongest time. For some reason I just haven't gotten around to it and it was on tv just a couple days ago. Even stopped on the channel for a bit but had shit to do so I didn't finish it.

Princess Mononoke, meh. Studio Ghibli's film are hit and miss with me. Although I've only really completed 3 of them.

None are on Netflix so I guess I'll just have buy physical copies.

I have a solution for that.
You can find most (if not all) of the Ghibli movies here.
There are a lot, around 20 I think.
Some of them are really weird, and I just plain don't like some of them (Porco Grosso), but overall they make my favorite movies.
That Satoshi Kon's also got interesting stuff, but it's more "mature" and psychological than ghibli films. You can also find those there.
