This is a photographer of Japanese Archers, circa 1860. How is it in color? Pretty simple, a new artistic trend has broken out around the world which changes our perception of history dramatically. Colorizing historic photographs from the late 1800?s and early 1900?s changes their appearance from something historic and different, into a scene from today.

I'm guessing it's in the 1840s- 1850's range. That's easily sometime in the era of Japan when Samurai were still around, or at the very least, in decline.

Folks today are starting to add colour to old stuff, digitally colouring it and so on.

I guessed 1880 but only because I knew it had to be ridiculously old.

Not if you threw ink on everybody! That's why the world's colourful today! Somebody invented colour and ink and started throwing it around all over the place, and before you know it, BAM, Red Communist Menace instead of black and white communist menace.
