The "damsel in distress + revenge" plot they went with is way too overused. Couldn't they have thought of a better premise?

This is like going to see Star Wars and bitching about it not being based on hard science. Your complaints are the whole point. It's supposed to be stupid potty humor. Well, okay, I guess. It succeeded.

Bad is defined by who sees it. It's subjective. This sort of humor is right up my alley. But then I'm a drunk forty year old ass licking pervert who hangs out on a forum filled with angsty teens.  Really I'm just thankful they finally made a movie for my demographic

Did verb-sama see the movie?

The "damsel in distress + revenge" plot they went with is way too overused.

Nothing else about the movie adhered to a Marvel plot structure, from the frame story to the action and characterization. Using well-known themes in the plot helps a typical Marvel audience jive with the rest of the movie.

The same could be said about the comic. 

And actually, this fits best with Deadpool as a character. He was introduced as a spoof on the edgy antihero trope of the 90's. Comic-Based movies have become formulaic and along comes Deadpool as a comment on them. In a way, during the opening crawl, poking fun at Reynold's other comic roles is a comment on Jackman's Wolverine and Downey's Iron Man.

Really the movie had another level behind all the gratuitous violence and 90's jokes.

You and my girlfriend would agree. She only saw it cause she knew I'd like it and, hey, time out at the movie is time out at the movies.

But she only really laughed at how ridiculous some of the humour was trying to be.

I liked it for what it was. I wasn't in stitches but I liked it. Then again, she's not big on comic movies and had no idea what she was getting in to. She was a good sport.

I was expecting absolutely nothing from this movie.  I left very pleased, some flop jokes aside.
