Lord Vader's personal starship has arrived. I plan to paint it and get it looking as good as possible, but until I get the paints required I'll make due with the decals provided. I also have a standard TIE Fighter arriving later today.

Getting this thing out of the sprues was a pain. I didn't have any sprue-cutters, so I used an Exacto-knife, and... blood loss ensued. I cut my finger's joint, the wound was quite deep, and I became very dizzy, started sweating, losing my hearing and vision. But I prevailed. Nothing was going to keep me from building the Dark Lord's starfighter. And I did so.

As you can tell, my Stormtrooper is missing the gray on the mouth-grill, as well as the silver filters and blue lines along the side. I was applying the waterslide decals for the first time, and ended up messing up really bad and damaging the decals. As of right now I'm searching for paints to get it fixed.

It really is a beautiful spacecraft.

I hope they explore further possible TIE configurations in the new movies.

I hope they do not, because I am worried they will create the shittiest designs possible.

Oh, come on. To assume that they will do a terrible job is silly. I'm not saying that there isn't a possibility of something looking bad, but they, in all likelihood, have some really talented people working on the designs of the ships, who want to make things look just as great as we do.

Haha, it's not very big, only as tall as the Stormtrooper when attached to the base, which raises the model to give it the appearance of flight over the Death Star's surface. It's extremely detailed though, every little detail from the original model has been faithfully recreated. Mine isn't painted yet, and thus looks cheap, but when it is completely painted and some wash has been applied to fill in the panel lines and emphasis the details it looks like this:

Yes, and so is the manufacturer, Sienar Fleet Systems.

Loads of stuff from the EU has been carried over, people forget that a lot of the people working on new material worked on EU projects. Tarkin was written by James Luceno, who wrote a few EU books. The difference between the new canon and Legends is that this time, everything is being properly coordinated. They've got a Story Group making sure everything fits together nicely, and eliminating things deemed to be questionable in regards to the Star Wars universe. After having read quite a lot of the new, canon material, I'm quite pleased.

I really am. It took me three or four days to decide on which Eva model to get.
