I learned a bit about how 3D printing has actually improved the quality of collectables like these. Back in the day there was most likely not a readily available compatible computer 3D graphic design that the toy companies could utilize in creating the toys, so instead they would make their own, and this is why the older collectables sometimes look like trash. A lot of movies now use 3D printing to create components of their sets like in starwars and most of their ships, and toy companies can buy the rights to these computer graphic designs for their toys. This becoming epic toys and not trash.

It really is amazing what the fans can conceive.A few weeks ago my sisters went to a nearby city and had photos taken with a bunch of people cosplaying as stormtroopers (there was a regular one, an AT-AT pilot and a black stormtrooper, from what I remember). They looked exactly like the ones from the movies.

This year I saw some very well done brony-Storm Trooper mashups. I would expect that to come out looking like shit but I was very impressed with what I saw Spoiler
