HeyQuoteLol
Lol
What it is:QuoteHeyQuoteLolSo, I've heard some complaints regarding the notification system and quotes (and also quotes from specific users, but that's a separate issue that I still need to look into). Basically: if you get roped into a quote chain, you will get an alert for each quote afterward, even if your quote doesn't show up in the post. This is caused by a css styling that only allows 3 levels of quotes, but actually logs all of them in the system. SMF has an on and off switch with quote nesting and does not easily allow 1 or 2 or 3 levels, so my question to you is: should quote nesting be disabled completely, in favor of direct quoting, where you will only get notifications when someone directly quotes you?
only if you implement subthreads

Make it so that anything past the 3rd level of quotes isn't even recorded. That way when you're responding to a longer quote chain, you don't have to scroll down forever to get to the bottom.Bungie did that on b.old and it worked well, but it was 5 levels instead.
Anyone that's been here since August can remember when we went through the time period when we turned quote nesting off and it was a fucking pain in the ass to follow a conversation. So what if you get a notification? Its not like it buzzes your phone or something. Just click the little exclamation point and quit being a little bitch.

sub thread
well why is it a bad idea? It would organize the threads and reduce the amount of scrolling you'd have to do through threads.
