BRB, let me just buy a $750,000 house out of nowhere. It's like you've never heard of different housing markets.
Reminder: If you're buying movies on DVD and BD instead of just buying the production studio, you're literally throwing your money in the trash. But that's what houses cost here. A shitty house in a terrible neighborhood is still $400,000 at least. I would guess the 3-bedroom house I rent a room in [which I split with a friend] is in the $650,000-$750,000 range. No way I could afford to buy this instead of renting.

........I'll try one more time and see if you know where I'm going with this. If you're buying video games instead of just buying the game developer company, you are literally throwing your money in the trash. But renting, in the long run, *IS* more expensive than buying. But the 10-20% down payment is what prevents people like me from buying.

never lease a car tbh
Quote from: Memeosaurus Rekts on March 03, 2016, 10:45:04 PMnever lease a car tbhMostly true.I'm considering leasing my next only because I'll probably get an electric car, and in 2-3 the tech will be much different and resale value will be low
Renting is fucking stupid and you're wasting your money.

Quote from: PSU on March 04, 2016, 09:45:56 AMRenting is fucking stupid and you're wasting your money. It's more expensive monthly, but you're definitely not guaranteed a return on investment, and if you go underwater on your mortgage or start missing payments, your credit is fucked. Miss a payment on rent? Typically not a big deal and the worst case is you leave and have none of your assets tied down to the place. There's no right answer in whether to own or rent; it depends on the situation.
