I guess you think there's some kind of slim margin between admitting there's a removal of capacity to care when you're dead, and believing you are god and everyone around you is a figment of your imagination

those two things are so similar, pretty much indistinct
Yes.

The head architect for an ambitious bridge project just died. I guess we should just stop building the bridge.

Yes.
You could at least argue they both have a negative result, but there's nothing more different than believing trillions of people, all of history, and the world itself exists and believing that it doesn't.

You can keep calling my mentality evil, but I'm literally just stating facts. It's how those facts are processed while you're alive that matters. Before you die, you can know that you won't be able to feel relief or remorse about the circumstances of your death, but act in a certain way to shield those who live on anyway, or you can not do that and let those who live on have a hard time when you're dead. One is obviously the "good" option, but my whole (truthful) point here is that whatever option you take will cease to matter to you after you die.

What?

People live on. The bridge doesn't exist or matter to the architect anymore, but it exists and matters to us.

I know for a FACT that my mother would be traumatized if she found my body riddled with bullets in my room--but let's go with that method anyway, because nothing matters!

What a fucking joke.

I guess you just skipped over my post.

Before you die, you can know that you won't be able to feel relief or remorse about the circumstances of your death, but act in a certain way to shield those who live on anyway, or you can not do that and let those who live on have a hard time when you're dead. One is obviously the "good" option.
You're really not getting what I'm saying here, at all. It's obviously immoral to leave your body behind in a place where others will be traumatized by it.

If you're going to kill yourself (Don't) with a gun, don't do it in a place that will cause your family to find you. I can't think of a more appalling thing for someone to see; the weight of a family member's suicide would be tragic enough, there's no need to make them look at your mutilated corpse, either.

I'm literally just stating facts. When you die, you won't be able to see or comprehend anyone finding your body or being upset over it. Does that mean it doesn't matter? Does that mean it's not immoral? No, I never claimed anything of the sort. I'm just talking about the point of view of the mind. If you're the type of person who does care, and is concerned with others after death, then you'll make preparations around that before you die.

The fact that you had to use more than one bullet proves you suck at killing yourself.
Do you know what a shotgun is?

Regardless, are you going to feel pain, regret, sadness, ect. after you die? It doesn't matter because you'll no longer have sapience to process it.
So fucking what?

Same reason you wouldn't care about others before you die. Selfishness. The only difference is that you won't be able to feel the guilt for your bad act after you die.

Yes, exactly. It would be selfish to not take into account the reactions of other people if you made the decision to kill yourself- I was getting the impression you were arguing it wasn't selfish, and that there was nothing wrong with it just because "Well, I'm dead, so who cares?"

I'm sorry if I misunderstood you.

No, it definitely matters to people at large, and it will matter to the indivdual up until he pulls the trigger if he's a conscience-minded person. But after he kills himself, it won't matter to him, even though the act is selfish and worthy of feeling guilty over.

I was just making the simpliest assertion and Verbatim flipped out over it and accused me of being a solipsist.

This is a DIRECT contradiction of what you stated before.

Because I already told you--I'm the type of person who gives a fuck.

So I would make preparations, because it matters to me. And what did you say?
These are all terrible suicide tips Desty, they're about shit that don't even matter to you, since you're dead.
If I were to kill myself, I wouldn't want to leave a mess for someone to clean up, so yes, it would matter to me.
If you were to kill yourself, every convinction and desire would cease to exist.
As if that fucking matters.

If I were brought back to life, I would still want the same shit. I would want to know that my mother wasn't the one who had to discover my body. That's what I would want. I'm just stating facts.

No, it's not a contradiction. I wasn't saying that to "prove" that your desire in your last seconds of life to protect your family didn't matter, I was saying that to explain my point that after you died, it wouldn't matter to you. This isn't hard.

The only things that matter to me are the things that matter period. So yes, it would still matter.

You can't say "this isn't hard" when you're the one tripping over such basic concepts.

I'm obviously talking at a higher concept than you are. You can keep whining and repeating the same shit over and over, that's fine. If you were brought back to life after suicide, it would matter to you again, but guess what - you don't come back to life, so it won't matter to you again. It will matter to you, if you're a caring person, up until the point you kill yourself. Now, that doesn't invalidate the feeling, it doesn't invalidate the world around you after you pull the trigger. But that's not what I'm talking about.

What you're talking about isn't even worth discussing. What's important is, "if you were alive, would you have wanted this?"

That's not what I'm talking about, that was abundantly clear from the first few replies. Not my fault you couldn't pick up on it and just kept stubbornly repeating the same shit.
