I almost got my purse snatched on the train over the weekend.


My husband and I had just come back from my sister-in-law's engagement party. She lives in the city, so we decided to take the train down town. On our way home we had to get off at one station to transfer from the red line to the gold line. I was wearing a small back pack purse. I had kept telling myself mentally all day to keep both straps on my shoulders, but in this moment I had only one strap on my shoulder. I walked in between two men who were standing on the train in the middle of the door way. I walk down three rows of seats, and the next thing I know I feel a great tug and my backpack is being ripped down my arm. I see this older indian man (probably in his late 40's to early 50's) on the end of my purse and I scream "YOU MOTHER FUCKER!". My husband is behind me (on the opposite side of the purse snatcher) and there is a man in his early 20's wearing a gray shirt standing next to me. Me, the man in gray, and my husband all lunge forwards towards the man (all the while I have not let go of my purse) the old indian man immediately throws up his hands and there from his hand dangles a set of black head phones.


"I was just getting my head phones" he said with a thick accent and a nasty glare.


He then ran off the train.


I honestly don't believe he was just grabbing his head phones. The tug of head phones being caught on my purse would not have been that intense. All I know what I was ready to kick that crusty old indian man's ass, and luckily I had the back up of my husband and a stranger.


This is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me, so even a few days later I'm still shook.

Why would some 50 year old Indian guy try to rob you and how would this even bother you 5 minutes later let alone days later fucking lol

Have you had anyone try to mug you? It's scary.

It's fucking true, if you want to steal phones it's super easy. Not so easy to deal with the potential consequences. Cameras are everywhere, and unless you plan stuff before, you're on thin ice.

Then again, those small cases aren't really investigated by Sherlock Holmes, soooo...

Yeah... it's a Betsy Johnson backpack purse lol. The Indians here are nasty and try to scam you out of everything. It's no surprise. While we were waiting for the transfer train. There was a different Indian guy on the train that we had just gotten off of. He kept staring at me while we sat on a bench, and when the train pulled away he slowly licked his lips at me. I flicked him off.
