Yeah the darkness of it, pacing, and all that is great. As well as the time traveling. I liked the 5th one a lot too. I think the 4th was my favorite book, but not movie.

and you could see that pretty clearly in the films, too--i doubt it was intentional, but stilla lot of people talk about how weird and jarring it is that the first two movies are so bright and serene and cheerful-looking, but the david yates films are all very dark and moody by comparison--but that's kind of how life works, isn't itwhen you're a kid, everything seems so colorful and fun and wondrous--but when you grow up, you start seeing the world for the scary, uncaring place that it really isit's pretty perfect tbh
The final book/two films were tedious. The rest were pretty cool though.

Tbqh I kinda missed the whole school life aspect of the series in the later books but I can see why they had more important things to tackle.Maybe that's why I enjoy the earlier books more
