Also, you don't need to see everything you just wrote. You already know what you posted and you're only interested in my response so why does it matter other than triggering your anal ass about posting style? Also don't try me Luciana, I triple dog dare you, I'll just reedit the post and fix the quotes back to the way I had it originally. And I know how to play forum wars of attrition like this, I once deleted and reposted a post on r/FFXIV ten times in one day because people kept downvoting it unjustly and I kept it up until they finally stopped downvoting me.

Well I do find it humorous how butthurt people get over it, it's more to do with the fact that (like Achronos mentioned on B.old) you're only interested in the response so why do you need to see this fluff above the most recent comment in the discussion? That and the fact that emails work in a similar manner and while I don't have as much as email as Achronos probably has/had I still use it enough to warrant making my postings somewhat uniform.

because if i'm just scrolling through a thread and reading each post, it's better to know who/what you're responding to first so that i can get the context of your response

You can get that in the bottom of the post, it's literally right under my most recent comment like I have it set up with this comment. Some new user can come in and get the context of my post immediately by either reading your comment and then mine or reading what's below mine. And under that logic, people should be flipping out for not making entire quote trees that can go back as far as possible so we can see "the whole picture" of discussion, but we don't do that for obvious reasons, this is literally a non-issue.

tbh there have been plenty of occasions where I was reading someone's post and didn't understand the context until I realized there was a quote below. I believe it has to do with how western society reads and sequesters textual information from left to right-top to bottom.

It's not something to freak out over but it becomes an inconvenience to some degree, regardless. One can argue that is isn't 'hard' to just look for the quote because it's, "right there below," but when I'm going through threads I'm not consciously looking for quotes after the reply. I have been conditioned to see them before the reply because of how textual information is read and sequestered in our society.
