Took me a few tries but I had very little experience and the test had a trick turn right in the DMV parking lot that was designed to specifically fool you for following the instructor's exact directions.

How many pints did the instructor let you have before the test. Y'know, "to calm yer nerves".

Did they make drive through bogland and potholey-roads or through the towny, yet still potholey roads?

How confident do you feel going 120kph on the N-roads?

I was totally sober and nervous AF. Couldn't sleep the night before. Finglas has a 50% fail rate and I really didn't want to have to do it again. Ever.

Finglas is basically a suburb, so the main issue are parked cars on either side of the road that you have to be minful of. The roads are very narrow and there are a lot of turns.

I got the car and was driving it all around for about 4 months. No L plates. I think driving around busy city center streets was a big help.

i've failed my test five times. haven't driven in nearly three years now, but i need to get back to it at some point as my grandparents paid for my lessons.

There is knowing how to drive and then there is passing the test.

There is no recording of it, so if you want to dispute the outcome its your word against theirs. Your instructor can be dick too by making you follow a difficult route. They could also fail you if they felt you were too fast or too slow. Basically what one tester might feel to be fast another might feel alright with.
