New Kong: Skull Island trailer

I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this. I'll still see it though, but I was expecting a more serious-tone movie, at least that's what I expected it would be judging from the trailer they showed at Comic Con this past summer.

If Jet Jaguar flew in outta nowhere with his theme song playing in this movie, then we can crack jokes

Well that was an unnecessary amount of info we could've obtained from actually watching the movie.

Hamfisted John C. Reilly comedy was just cringeworthy.

Plus, am I the only one bothered by Kong's size? He looks goofy here. Like a Power Rangers villain or something.

Not impressed with this trailer at all.

Yeah I'm getting pretty tired of all the forced in humor they've been putting into movies the past couple of years.

Yeah I knew they had to beef him up a bit to equalize the odds against Godzilla, but fucking hell, there's ways of doing that without making him look like a comical videogame character.

To be fair, Toho's version of King Kong was Godzilla's size and it looks like Legendary wants to have that for their version of Kong too. He even walks on two legs like Toho's Kong whereas Peter Jackson's Kong moved on all 4 limbs and was smaller, staying true to the original 1930s Kong.

People are also saying that this Kong is young and hasn't reached his full height yet. I think that's a rather silly reason really.

I think its cause this Kong is meant to be an oversized gorilla. I liked this design too.

Despite what people say, I enjoyed Jackson's Kong movie a lot.

Edit: Since Legendary has the rights to Mothra and Rodan, I think Skull Island would be a great way to show them just for a little bit as easter eggs. Would be pretty awesome. A post credits scene with Godzilla '14 would also be cool.

But eh, looks interesting. How are they explaining away that King Kong died in the 30's, is this just another giant gorrilla, alternate universe where 30's Kong never happened, etc?

Alternate timeline. This takes place in Legendary's Godzilla universe.
