I had hoped that we could have moved past the music to see the pain and address that. Like Eminem, Chester put it out for all to see and those who could identify with him did. I didn't realize his pain wasn't an edgy gimmick. It was real. Hopefully we can move past the memes and apply the lesson to all. That pain is real. The effects of that pain apply to all. Sure, it was a rock star today. Yesterday it was a teen who couldn't take it anymore and tomorrow it will be an adult who just gave up. The lesson is we need to find our humanity again and connect. We have more "friends" than ever before but less empathy than ever before too. The internet joined us like no point in human history. But while we are joined, we've never been more divided. Make this one death mean something. He could have been anyone. It's not his celebrity that made him. It's the pain of his life and everyone who shares it. He wasn't the only one to be abused. He wasn't the first nor will he be the last. But, maybe we can see through and adjust how we feel and act. Maybe tomorrow one of us connects with someone and spares them the same fate.
