Literally touring with Arctic Monkeys as their opening act in the early days of their career. Then something happened. AM were getting attention and acclaim from all over the UK, most likely due to the spread of their songs over the internet. Both bands' sound was virtually identical, yet not nearly as much attention was being given to these lads. (ex:
AM -
Milburn) Before you knew it, record labels came flocking to AM and the bands roles had reversed with Milburn becoming the opening act. On top of that, their debut album,
Well Well Well, was released a full nine months after AM's
Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not. The album was well received but not nearly as much as AM's. It seemed that all the love was used up.
Two years later and another studio album in between, the band have decided it was time to call it a day. Their final show was in May of 2008. I have only heard about them a few years after I began listening to AM and I found them to be quite good, maybe even better than Arctic tbh. I sometimes wonder if they could have achieved the kind of success Arctic Monkeys have if they stuck with it a bit longer.
