I believe the basis behind the otherkin belief is that one's 'soul' is that of another species and that they are merely in the wrong body. Which would mean that they'd still be perfectly capable of human cognition as they have a human body.That's what I've seen anyways.
I just want to be an attack helicopter ;~;
Crazy fucks.I don't really care though.
Also from what I understand otherkin are just furries minus the sex.
Quote from: Kitsunekun on April 25, 2015, 05:00:30 PMI suppose I would be considered "otherkin" because I LARPed for about five years and I was an Arctic fox assassin and painted my body to look like such, but I don't identify myself as otherkin or a furry my character is just and extension of who I am. I don't get off to humanoid foxes it's not my cup of tea. So you get off to actual foxes? Hey Elegiac we found you a girlfriend! n.n

Quote from: Orion on April 25, 2015, 05:39:54 PMYou can't identify as partially an animal because an animal doesn't think like that, the cognitive difference is too great.It's okay as a bit of fun, but anything beyond that is downright bizzare. I'm not in any position to tell people what they can't do and it doesn't impact me regardless. If someone wants to pretend to be a goose or whatever their favorite animal is then that's their choice. The problem is when people insist that these feelings are genuine and not the result of a personality disorder.Additionally, assuming this had any truth to it you wouldn't have any control over your behaviour (also assuming the part is your consciousness).I believe the basis behind the otherkin belief is that one's 'soul' is that of another species and that they are merely in the wrong body. It sounds like what you're describing is similar to that of a spirit animal, which is predetermined and requires going through extraordinary lengths to discover.Rather than this it seems otherkin just tend to choose whatever animal suits them.Also from what I understand otherkin are just furries minus the sex.
It doesn't affect me whatsoever, and if people want to do their own weird thing then go ahead.But then we have the retards that bring more scrutiny on the furry fandom, like the girl who bit a mentally retarded boy because he kept annoying her at her job.
I'm tolerant, but seeing as I've never met, seen or experienced one I dunno.Frankly they are at the limit of my acceptance of things "beyond the norm", and are entering the realms of "jesus wtf is wrong here"

It's a form of dysphoria and shouldn't be romanticized, but it shouldn't be condemned just because it's bizarre. People that aren't mentally ill and still identify as otherkin as a hobby or fetish don't seem much different from people who pretend to be depressed or suicidal.

I am also very surprised by the lack of hate for them on this forum which actually makes me happy, because it shows that a lot of people here are actually intellectual and not just trolls.
