How do you make bland dishes a bit more zesty?

I eat a sweet potato every day, but I wish that there was some sort of tomatoy thing, which would give it that really mouth watering flavor whenever I eat it, without adding to many calories. I mean, it's pretty obvious that I could just add sour cream, but I want a healthy option.

Realistically I could add honey, but honey is like crack to me. I was hoping for something on a bit more of the tomato zest side.

Mainly use salt, black pepper, oregano, basil, parsley, marjoram, thyme, cumin, paprika, etc.

I used to spices to flavor my dishes like crazy, but I have since cut back a lot because it's expensive. I would go through like a container of tumeric a week.

So you want zest suggestions that you don't like too much or else it'll be expensive? Uhm. Air?

Buy spices at a store like Walmart. You get the same spices for the same price, but 5x the amount.

And I'd probably go for red pepper flakes, paprika, thyme, rosemary, and Italian seasoning.
