when it's absolutely nothing you have any control over
Gotta love people's reactions when someone says they aren't proud of their nationality.
Reminds me, I should really look up the Irish Irish National Anthem. They only teach the English one in schools and it's sorta unique to have two to chose from.
Not a fan of the national anthem, or really any for that matter. They just remind me of our society's supposed obligation to be proud of your nationality when it's absolutely nothing you have any control over and nothing you've ever had to work to achieve. Which seems just a bit foolish in my eyes.

Which seems just a bit foolish in my eyes. This dangerous way of thinking is bringing about the death of western civilization. You should be proud of your nationality, because even if you didn't directly contribute to the birth of your country, your forebears did, and they would want you to be proud of your nation.
