My grandmother on my father's side used to always insist that people should take take more food after they'd eaten up. She cooked a lot of food, and good food. She also had this big vegetable patch that covered her and my grandfather's entire needs when it came to veggies, roots, and such. A damn active woman, she was. Even up in her 70's.

Nowadays she mostly sits still. The years are catching up to her.

She's also the only one of my grandparents that's still alive.

I was a dick to my grandmother when I was a child and a shit-eating teenager. One of my biggest regrets in my life.

It's because she was always a little slow on the uptake. She never understood sarcasm, and I... speak in sarcasm, so, she never really understood what I was saying a lot of the time. So I'd get snappy with her often, because I was immature and didn't know that the world isn't revolving around me.

She's still alive, by the way. I know that using the past tense makes it seem like she's not, but she is. So yeah.

Many of them treat service employees like shit and seem to be under the impression that their age alone means they deserve some kind of reverent respect even though they've probably done nothing to earn that kind of respect.

I never met my grandparents from my dads side, they died before I was born.

Grandmother from my mothers side died a few years back, she was a quiet little old lady. My mothers father is a polygamist little faggot who neglected my grandmother and all her kids after he married another women, he only cared about his new wife and her kids.

My Grandpa is just so...friendly. He'll have random conversations with people passing us on the sidewalk, make half-funny half-cringy jokes to waitresses, etc. He is super kickass, though. 74 and healthier than anyone else I know.
