There's killing someone and then there's deliberately refusing to help someone. It's pretty mutually exclusive.

So why wouldn't Batman leave the Joker to die by falling off the building in TDK?
Because "unstoppable force/immovable object" discussion nonsense

What's funny is that Nolan's Batman kills people, too. Ra's was left to die.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.

If it's so black and white, and he's refused to save his enemies in the past, why save his worst enemy?

If not saving someone =/=  killing, then why would he save the Joker from certain death? Makes no sense.

Silly writing.

Keaton Bats didn't save his Joker when he fell into oblivion.

He shoved him off a building and caught him with his grappling hook. Had he let him fall it would've been murder. It's not like he personally went out of his way to indirectly save him whenever he ran into a spot of trouble.

Keaton's movies didn't harp on Batman's aversion for killing the same way Nolan's do.

You're right. I had forgotten how that scene went down. I thought he tripped or something.

Still.

Batman, following what he didn't do with Ra's, he would've not saved the Joker. Since after all, he is not killing him but he isn't going to save him either.

I just don't know. : P

So, I saw BvS.

Enjoyed myself thoroughly, but my expectations were lower than the number of minutes Wonder Woman had on screen.

I don't have a great deal to say that hasn't already been said, so I guess I'll just quickly sum up my thoughts:

- Worst Lex Luthor ever. Eisenberg did terribly, which is a shame, because I normally like him a lot.
- Ben Affleck is awesome.
- The Superman and Batman fight was mostly bullshit, but I can excuse it for a couple reasons:
1. Superman was a smug prick for the first half of the movie, so I enjoyed seeing him getting his ass beat.
2. Superman is a terrible stupid boring fucking character who needs to take a beating every once in awhile.

I realize that the point of Superman's character is that you CAN'T just beat him up like Batman did in this movie, but honestly, I had a bit of a revelation during that scene: I don't care. Superman is boring, and weakening him for the sake of giving Batman a fair (and more entertaining) fight makes him MUCH more interesting.

In all reality, Batman should've busted out the kryptonite blade from the word "go," but he didn't, because they needed a cool action scene. And it didn't really make sense, because Superman is supposed to be a boring shitty character who can't be beaten up. I'm honestly glad that they didn't go that route.

The movie was too long, and I was really starting to feel its length. It kinda felt all over the place, too. I had many questions, but too much of the time, I considered myself too apathetic to even care about what the answers were. I don't understand how Lex created Doomsday, but I don't really care enough to look it up. I'm just willing to sort of accept it as a dumb comic book movie thing, which is what this all is.

I liked the symbolism--the whole Superman = God(?) equation is super interesting and I wish they harped on that a bit more.

6/10

The important thing to note about batflek is that he has already failed Jason Todd. The joker has already pushed Batman past his no kill "rule".

I thought Ben did a wonderful job and I'm looking forward to a stand alone Batman movie especially if the slave trader scene was any indication of how brutal Batman has become.

Batman is supposed to be scary, he's supposed to beat the brakes off of bad guys, you're supposed to shit yourself at the mere mention if of his name.

As for the scene with the gun I just wrote that off as the only possible solution in his mind. You'll also notice he didn't outright kill him, he shot the tank instead.

The batmobile scene is harder to justify, he outright killed those dudes.

Or it's just a new interpretation of Batman altogether. This Batman was more of a loose-cannon who doesn't operate based off of arbitrary rules. I like that a lot better--Batman's refusal to kill anyone always seemed too hokey to me.

There's wanton murder, and then there's killing when the situation calls for it. If you want to make an omelette, you have to break a few eggs. As far as I noticed, Batman never killed anyone he didn't need to kill.

Batman is an actual psychopath, and usually a hoplophobe. In some continuities, it was revealed that even others think his no-kill rule is excessive, in the sense that he goes to unreasonable lengths to prevent it.

He's kind of a reverse-Punisher. Instead of going out of his way to kill every petty-thief and drug dealer, he refuses to kill even mass murders and tyrants.

Of course, all of that came out of a change required my the CCA, who didn't allow comic characters to kill for fear of making bad impressions on children.

yeah, prime example for this usually being how much collateral damage various batmen have caused by letting various jokers live instead of killing them.

suicide squad is happening in the same movie universe. some of the characters might/probably will cross over into other DCEU properties, like joker and harley and probably amanda waller.

Usually the only people who think he's boring are the ones who know very little about the character.

Did you even read Superman Doomed? Or watch TAS, for that matter. He's afraid of his powers, their continuous expansion, and hurting those he loves.
