We had two separate shops in the same compound, one for heavy duty vehicles like cranes and large trailers and a general shop for cars, trucks, and larger vehicles if the other shop was swamped with work orders. We maintained the base's 700+ vehicle fleet. It was pretty fun, but I would not want to do it as a career.

I was tasked to deploy to Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan in April of this year, but I was discharged in December of 2013. I had a lot of disagreements with the military, having bases all over the world was one of them. All foreign bases should be shut down. I do not agree with the idea of countries either, but until that idea can be phased out of our society, we should not have our military in other countries for no reason. I can understand the humanitarian benefit of it because we have supplies ready to help with natural disasters, but I think our aircraft carriers that patrol the world can handle that kind of stuff just fine.

Oh my god, if you'd have gone, there was a deployment for an aviation battalion from Maryland to support the Hawaiian unit that cycled our 104th out that I could have volunteered to fill a slot on, heard the ended up in Bagram.We could have tore that post up.
