Why do you hate TDKR so much?

It's a disservice to Superman (and Batman, but more Superman than anything else) and is the primary justification for simpletons to think that Batman could hold his own against Superman - when in reality, there are maybe 3 contrived scenarios where he would hold his own (not win - hold his own).

I know a lot of people like it, but I just thought the whole book was... meh. Just poor portrayals of a lot of characters... Batman kills and uses guns (despite being hoplophobic, though I can forgive that somewhat, as Silver Age had just ended IIRC). Two-Face, Joker, the Mutant leader. They all sucked as villains.

The other thing is, is that it completely inverted the two characters. Batman has always been the authoritarian, putting law and order first. This is the reason Batman's arch nemesis, the Joker, is an agent of Chaos, because that is Batman's opposite. Superman would always put altruism above the law, and basically every portrayal besides the DKR one shows this, whether it is him forcibly disarming the world's governments or telling the UN off in the New 52. This is why his arch nemesis is Lex Luthor, who is an agent of Order and is part of "the establishment".

If it helps, I'll use D&D terms:

Batman is 'Lawful Good' (I'd argue 'Lawful Neutral' in the Miller/Dark Age versions) and the Joker is Chaotic Evil.

Superman is 'Chaotic Good' and Lex Luthor is 'Lawful Evil'.

He was beaten, due to expert planning executed at a time in which Superman was in a weakened state. It's not bullshit, it makes sense why Superman didn't "win". Batman knew he would hold back somewhat, and that he was weakened sue to the nuclear blast, and thus, Batman took advantage of these factors, enlisted Arrow's help, and "won" the fight. It isn't representative of a fight between the two under normal circumstances, and no one ever said it was.

I personally enjoy it, I understand why you don't, and I'm not going to waste my time arguing why one of our opinions is more "correct" than the other. A debate on the topic wouldn't really go anywhere.
