Haha! Some good news today folks! Blog news aside, I may have just found myself some land!

Talking to my Uncle, who owns 160 acres of land. He says he'd like to keep it in the family. And, he's already been talking to my mother about it. Point is, my name is up for the owner of the land.

When he's paid off the mortgage at the end of next year, he's going to add my mother into the paperwork as an owner, and if I so wish, myself as well. Shared ownership. You folks may not know the size of an acre, but know that 160 of them is fucking big. Big enough that there's a lake on the land he owns.

There's some technical loopholes to work around with laws and stuff, but for all intents and purposes, in the next year, I may have land to call my own.

160 fucking acres of it!

You know what's cool about it? That place has a lake. Never dries up either. If you have water, you have a power source. As well as wind power, I've got another avenue as well.

Fuck, I saw 12 acres go for the low low cheap price of 60,000 dollars. For the most part, 10 acres nowadays is pretty close to 100,000 dollars.

160 is worth a FUCK TON.

If it's a family thing, I wouldn't sell it at all. My parents have ownership of some land in Mexico, not as much as Sandtrap, but we don't plan on selling it. It's to be passed down to my family.

I'll be forthright.

You're retarded. Honest to god retarded.

You don't know how hard it is to get land up here. And, the money wouldn't be worth it. Because for one thing, where the fuck would I go? I'll never leave here for anywhere else in the world.

And if I do decide to travel, this place will always be here, something I can come back to.

You folks need to re-asses the meaning of security methinks. Because money is not security.

Build of maintain it. Do not sell it, as it may be worth alot and be carefull when big business come knocking, sometimes it is better to fold than to fight them in court.

Also if interested you could start some farming and try to turn it profitable thus paying for the upkeep of the estate. Hire some cheap labour or decent hads to cover for you.

No, see, here's the thing. The taxes on the land are cheap as shit. And I already know how I'm going to roll. I'll be almost completely separate from the power grid because I have the tech on my side to be self sufficient in that regard.

Not really, if you say 10 acres for example goes for 100k then sell 50-100 acres. Keep over 50 acres for yourself and family. You'll have money to live comfortably and more than enough land you'll ever need. It's the smart thing to do especially if you have a mortgage to pay.

Also good luck in maintaining it, talk to your uncle and try to figure out how to maintain it. He may be able to teach you a thing or two and introduce you to people who can help you. Shadow him for awhile if you have no expwrience maintaining the land. Only thing i can advise you on. Spend tiem with your uncle any to read forms etc and try to understand the know hows, when the land lease needs to be payed again cause if i remember the government can take back the land. Whether you own everything on top and below the land, just get used to the know hows and litigation system.

My kindergarten teacher owned a farm in my town when I was around 3 or 4 and she sold it for about $1,000,000. Now there is a Walmart, Eb games, Canadian Tire, Staples, and a few other stores where it once was.

You sack of old sacks. The mortgage will be paid off in ONE year. No strings attached. Second, I live off less than 8000 dollars a year. And when I build my place, I'll need even less to survive.

There is also the other fact, that this is a joint project. My name, my Uncle's name, my Mother's name, and a fourth person will claim ownership of it all in one title. Any decisions to be made will be done together.

And we all agree here and now that selling any of it would be foolish. There's a lake, there's acres and acres of woods, there's fields and space for farming and animals, and enough space that four people, four families could live there and live comfortably apart from one another.

Money, as I said, is not a concern, and never has been for me because I don't give a shit about it. I don't want it, I don't seek it. I use it when I need it. But I'm a minimalist by nature.

You can say all that but you might want to get the skills and some connection to the grid till you can get off it. Trust me there will be alot of beurucratic loopholes you will have to deal with and idiotic community associations if they exist.

Figure out how to keep it profitable and find cost to pay for getring it off grid and then start working on getting the capital.

Still how old are you again?

22. Trust me, I'm versed in the loopholes. And I don't need electricity to operate.  I'm the kind of guy you could drop into the woods with a backpack and some tools and I'd build a house with wooden nails.

There's water on the land. If you have water, you automatically have a power source. Trust me on this when I say I know how to keep things running. I've even set up my cards to play in a nice order so that everything falls into place.

You talk to me as if I haven't lived here for roughly 20 years of my life.

Well i have no idea if you have experience with managing land and it's financial affairs. Not many people do and that is why i am talking to you with expectation you just got it all of a sudden.

If you have everything under control and have been doing this all your life then you are quite set and well off and may not need any caution compared to alot of people i know who will be thrown into a strange new environment.

Countryside business is no stranger to me. And managing money affairs is pretty simple. It'll be big time simple with my plans and setup for things.
