Most of the posters have minor characters in disproportionately important positions. Like the second Broly movie, which has Goku placed front and center alongside Gohan, despite getting all of one scene in the film.

I didn't see "Battle of Gods" because I expected hour long fights, filled with hour long dialogues right before a fight.

Was it paced a lot better?

It had a short fight at the start, then amusing shenanigans for another hour (which, yeah, consisted mostly of talking, but this time it was actually interesting) before a fuckin' awesome last fight in sexy CGI.

Well watch Kai if you want to get as close to canon as possible since it cuts out all the filler.

The only movies that are canon are Bardock: Father of Goku, History of Trunks, that one special with Vegetas brother Tarble, and the Battle of Gods movies.

For the movie about Bardock that might not be canon. Recently there was a comic about Bardock that takes place during that time period so it contradicts the movie. Which means that comic is now canon and the movie isn't.

His dialogue slowly shrunk each movie. He could actually form coherent sentences the first movie. The second movie he sounds like Hulk with further down syndrome saying "Kakakarrot cake" and "I'll kill you". The third movie he just moans everytime his mouth opens.

The new comic doesn't contradict OG Bardock movie. Before we just thought he died in Frieza's blast where as now we learn it teleported him to the past and he was the OG super saiyan. It simply added on to it as opposed to rewriting the story.
