When do you get motivated the most to improve on a certain thing?

Why did I do MMA religiously for 6 months? Buncha interesting characters my age in the gym. Felt like an anime

not that i work well under pressure, but it does give me a pretty nice boost of adrenaline to help motivate me in a forced and superficial kind of way

ideally, i'll just have a self-motivating innate passion for whatever it is i want to improve on

I actively avoid motivation, but generally I feel the most pressure to get something done when people are relying on me. I don't know if that's really "positive motivation," which is what I feel this thread is going for, but that's what really does motivate me the most to get shit done.

It's harder to describe it as something (or maybe it's nothing more) than when I feel inspired to do it. Pretty touch and go for productivity, but I do feel pretty damn satisfied when it happens.

When it's in my interests to do so.

Can't take good pictures with my film camera (fucked up exposures, light leaks, blurry shots...)? Learn how to camera. Now I take the occasionally dodgy shot, but now I just have to focus on composition rather than if I'll get a shot at all.

Next big step is to self-develop my rolls of film and shave a ton off costs.
