My counselor wants me to see a psychologist, AMA

Was talking to my counselor this Tuesday passed, and she asked me how I felt about seeing a psychologist. I haven't really thought about it, but am undivided so far, maybe you guys'll help me reach a decision. So, AMA because I'm bored and my ego needs feeding.

Would it be wise to go, then, if you believe you'll get diagnosed with that eventually? I don't imagine having Antisocial Personality in your medical files would do anyone much good.

If it costs you, try one or two sessions, and if it's any good, then do what you deem to be the best course of action for the future.

There really aren't any reasons not to other than wasting time and money.

I don't really see the point. If anything it's contributed to what successes I've had in life; the problem of it lies with everybody else. Doesn't bother me none, and I wonder how a diagnosis would impede me in life.

In typical use they are but when you use them technically there are minor differences. I'll go with the UK ones because that's the one I know best but it might vary for the USA somewhat.
Psychologist is a broad term for anyone who has passed a Psychology undergraduate degree, you are eligible to join the BPS and be registered as a Psychologist. However if they are treating patients in a clinical setting then it usually is accompanied by a more specific term like Chartered, Counselling or Clinical. A therapist and counsellor is much more synonymous as far as I know but I could be wrong.
