I kind of agree that moderators responding to troll threads and overall acting like stern mothers, vocalizing warnings in public, don't do much good and in fact just feed the need for attention and recognition from which a lot of this shitty behavior stems. Still not even close to sold on the bullshit of self-moderation, muting, and relying solely on reports.

It does, though. Trolls can go on a rampage and save the link to the thread, thus "showing off" their trolling skillz.

But I mean, trolls are going to screenshot anyway, so it defeats the purpose. Might as well keep locked threads around to show what NOT to do; at least that serves a purpose.
