Because if I had to choose between one or the other, I'd pick street smarts 10 times out of 10.

Being street smart will take you much farther in life.

Well I know lots people who got straight As across the board during high school that just couldn't hold down a normal conversation without turning it awkward, or have the slightest fucking semblance of an idea of what goes on in the world. They weren't autistic or anything, just not very, as the coined term goes, "street smart." They didn't have common sense.

A combination of both book smarts and street smarts constitutes high intelligence, IMO.
