jet fuel cutting steel beams

Heat transfer! Leave a puddle of jet fuel hanging around on some steel beams and the heat transfer would therefore weaken the structural integrity over time.

You might even be able to say that the melting of the steel beams was timed!

This is the difference between pouring lighter fluid in a plank and expecting the plank to be reduced to ash, and cutting through the plank with a butane torch.

If you just splash the beams with burning jet fuel, won't melt.

In an open burn? no. The insides of a tower like that can create a condition somewhat similar to a furnace though, and the fuel can in theory produce more than enough heat to begin liquifying industrial steels.
