Some girl I've been seeing for a while wants to see other people. The best I can describe our relationship is that we're lovers. There's feelings involved but we're not in a typical bf/gf relationship and the plan was always to find someone else and move on.

The ground rules I set when we started this venture were that we were exclusive until she or I found someone else, then all activities would cease. I have feelings for this girl and jealousy would be an issue if we had an open relationship.

Recently she found someone she wants to be physical with and per my boundaries she let me know and we stopped being intimate.

The problem that has arisen is that she still wants to be intimate with me while she's with this guy (and possibly another girl in the future).

I have no intention of being in a polyamorous relationship. Maybe that makes me emotionally immature, maybe it doesn't. I'm not generally a jealous person but when someone is actively pursuing another relationship I want no part of it.

She "doesn't understand" why I'm acting this way. I think it's pretty clear. In this love triangle I would be the only one who can get hurt. She barely knows this guy and I'm sure he doesn't feel the same for her that I do.

If we were just having sex it would be different, but it's not just sex. There's an emotional connection.

I guess what I'm asking is what you would do in this situation.

TL:DR my ex lover is trying to reap the benefits of being with me while pursuing someone else and I shut that shit down.

That's precisely why I laid down these rules and why I will follow them. I really think she's scared to move on even though I've encouraged her to.
