The direction of a thread can most of the times already be predicted by factors such as the title, the place of the thread, and how many replies have been made. I won't give an example, because that would require too much effort, and you can try it out by exploring threads yourself.

"Feel" the emotions from the titles, and let other things paint you a clearer picture.

Rare threads do arise, but my point was that it's usually more than two pages if it's Verb derailing it.
