It's a manga ongoing since the 80's that got a proper animated adaption starting in 2012 that's nothing but faithful to its source material.

As the name suggests it's quite bizarre and is trademarked by it's stylishness and flair.

No wonder I've never heard of it, but it's good that it's faithful to the source material.

It's actually really popular in Japan, it just never hit off in the west.

The writer is also heavily influenced by music from the 80's with most characters being named after bands or musicians.
