Seriously though, those caps can be a pain in the ass. The skin between my left thumb and forefinger was scabbed over for a while after I fucked it up on a water bottle.

There's a big difference between finger strength and arm strength. There are bottles like Gatorade which the cap's seem to be fused to the ring.

Those bottle caps have too much friction against the bottle and the notches are at just the right depth to provide an inadequate amount of traction to open, whilst still being hand shredders.
