My family used to have financial difficulties at the time. (Like VHS cartoons, or anime which my mother suggested, sometimes puzzles too)At school, what I remember mostly is being bullied throughout the elementary. I was branded as unintelligent, my peers were always onto me, the teachers rarely cared, or even worse, they accused me of anything at some point. Other girls outed me for not agreeing with them or playing the same games as them, and the boys were much better to spend time with, but they tended to be annoying more often.My parents almost gave up on me at the time.Silly stuff to remember. A place that used to be small at the time, in Greece. Makedonia (the modern Greek region) at its hight as an Empire used to go as far as Macedonia, Albania and Bulgaria centuries ago. You can read up on that on Wikipedia. Actually, the history class here is biased, if not even more than yours when it comes to putting things under the carpet and add fake nationalistic heroism that would probably be compared to Mussolini.
