isn't it funny how we warmly applaud ex-addicts for being "clean" for a year

i need medication so i can do what

wanting to kill myself for being too weak to avoid medication is a guarantee

that doesn't seem very useful
How would taking, say, a medication that corrects your seratonin levels make you "weak."
because you're admitting that something needs to be "corrected"

So let's say I am, by default, self-serving and selfish, but at some point decide to rectify this immoral behavior and act out of love for others. Because I admitted that such behavior needed correction, am I now weak?

you were always weak, because you had those negative qualities in the first place

personal concession is a sign of strength, but relying on something other than yourself to rectify those issues is weakness

but is deciding to rectify that weakness not a sign of strength, however slight?

Anyways, we are all in possession of negative qualities; we are united in weakness.
Is it not possible that you have some deficiency by default?

yep.

You say you simply wished to prove a point, but ai bet you there was a tiny, tiny bit of curiosity deep down regarding how it tasted, and what the effects were like.

That curiosity? Weakness.

i care a lot about what you personally bet

i already knew what the effects were like prior to that anyway, because the first time i've been drunk was when i was 14, which was one of the worst experiences of my entire life

you answered your own question

anyone who has a disability or mental condition of any kind is weak

that's why they're called disabilities and mental conditions

Well no, my problem is that "weak" carries a negative connotation about the person themselves. You're lumping them in with people who use drugs for recreation. It's different for people with Parkinson's, who use it to function.

For someone who prides himself on being verbose you're really stuck on that word eh?

My point boils down to, those who suffer from physiological ailments are not mentally weak. Using your example, you said earlier neutral life without drugs is 0. Doing drugs is a -1. Returning to a life free of drugs is returning to neutral. However, you're calling people who were never at neutral to begin with, weak. This is hardly the same situation as the person who was once at 0 but chose to drop down a level. What's your definition of weak then and why is it so broad?

weakness = any imperfection, and because it's philosophically useful

strength is the capacity to rise above your weaknesses using sheer willpower, tenacity, etc.

but you're not strong if you use help, i don't think that makes you strong at all

under those definitions, you could say that you don't have any interest in being strong, and that's okay

but i do though, and that's part of why i am the way i am

Why are drugs bad? Are medicinal drugs morally incorrect? and is your response an appeal to nature?

drugs aren't morally bad at all, especially not medicinal

they're just a symbol of human imperfection, and that's why i hate them

drugs aren't toys and thus shouldn't be used for recreation, unless you want to be branded a loser for the rest of your life by people who aren't losers

unprescribed medication (like alcohol to treat depression, or a generally shit life) is just as bad, if not worse

prescribed medication still makes you a weak fuck, but at least you're a responsible weak fuck

i don't take any medication for any of the problems that i have and never will, because i consider myself too strong for that

OT: Nah, I don't buy into that. I might say wow that's great as a comment, because it's small talk, but honestly, it's not like the person needs the comment. This is their lifestyle, it's not like they're resisting something. They've quit the addiction.

And you want to be applauded for something that isn't extraordinary? The only time praise is alright is when the person goes above and beyond
