Is the extended editions of LoTR/Hobbit worth watching?

I've already seen the original trilogy (someone brought it up earlier, hence the other thread and then I decided for this), but is it worth watching again for the extended edition? Any important stuff/extra exposition? Never seen any of the Hobbit's, so I'm just downloading the extended of that.

The only drawback is like... each movie is 4 hours long because of that. That's Moses the old 50's movie long.

They're good. But it's stuff that they cut because it wasn't necessary to the plot. I'd highly recommend them though.

Speaking of which,,me and a friend are marathoning all six extended cuts in a row this week. Gonna be fun.

Absolutely yes, without question.

It adds a lot of extra dialogue and important scenes.

The Hobbit movies aren't worth it, it only adds like 10 extra minutes. Plus the Hobbit movies are shit except for AUJ

Well the extended edition of RotK has a really fucking stupid scene that was included for shits and giggles, not in the books or relevant at all and it breaks some canoes. But all other the additions are good.
Whereas the only good Hobbit film is the first one.

They're worth seeing if you're into the expanded lore of the LOTR universe but it's really easy to see why they were removed. Return of the King is the only one that I could consider has semi-important deleted scenes. I never watched the extended editions of the Hobbit movies because I already feel that series could have stood to be reduced to two films as is.
