No, but to them they might see it as wrong. As with anything, if they aren't respectful about where and when they smoke then I see it as being more wrong for them to smoke than you telling them to quit.

god no, that shit will fuck you up, I quit years ago, but I've been telling people for 15 years straight to not smoke, my mother got asthma and bronchitis from smokes when she was older, my mom told me that she regrets every smoke she had because of it.

They have to be proactive. If your friend shows no sign of change by himself, you probably won't persuade him either.

Unless you're quite close friends it's unlikely that he'll change his stance. He probably will just not smoke in front of you.

There is a difference between helping and being forceful and pushy.

It is fine to tell them that they should not smoke once. If you keep telling them every half an hour you are not going about it the right way. Also it is, in the end up to them, and some people just are not strong or emotionally capable enough to quit.
