Oh, hey.
Typically you'd do this for like birthday gifts and stuff like that. But I got my gf a gift, and just left it in there just in case she didn't like it. Supposedly, if your giving a present to a significant other, leaving the receipt in there is kinda saying I don't really know if you'll like this so here.

Not that she was actually upset, or anything like that. But it spurred a conversation, and it was kinda weird to be told people find it rude.

Do you leave the gift receipt when you give a gift? And can it be taken as a rude gesture in some cases, to you?

If it's clothing or something along those lines, I'd say putting the receipt in the bag is fine.

I honestly don't care if they leave the receipt in the bag. It's the thought that counts.

Leaving a gift receipt is normal. You are not supposed to leave the actual receipt though as it shows the price.

That just seems like petty complaint.  Almost as bad as microaggressions and culture appropriation.

Or just keep the receipt where you'll remember it?

Oh, hey.
Gift receipts are normal, regular receipts are considered rude. Just like price tags with the price on it.
Kinda odd to me but whatever. People are afraid of letting each other know how much they spent I guess.

I wouldn't want someone to know how much I spent on them tbh

Psy is right, clothing or the like and it's normal. Otherwise if they want to return it they can ask you for the receipt and let you know how they feel about your gift to your face

It implies that you think your gift might not be good enough and that you didn't put enough thought into it
Which I think is bullshit

Just put it in there

I neither fear, nor despise.
I wouldn't put the receipt in the bag, but keep it myself. If they don't like it, I can give them the receipt.
When they receive the gift they might not want to see how much you paid for it, etc.

I think it's viewed as rude because it makes people feel indebted to an extent.
