I've heard people talk about how vertebraes can be removed and then the bones reattached to make someone shorter, but is this an actual surgery that you can get? I tried to google it but got mixed results

couldn't they just compress your spine in some way, not actually remove bones from it?

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
Well not really... and on the opposite end, the only "height enlargement" surgery is really breaking your legs in a few places, inserting some metal for the bone to regrow around, and then you have to lay in bed for about four months for that to heal and you gain about two inches in your legs.
