I have no idea what "moral status" means.

Do we have an ethical responsibility not to harm/kill them? Well, I try not to kill bugs. I let them out when I see them. Should others do the same? Maybe. There's such an unbelievable amount of them, though, it probably won't make a dent if you kill them anyway.

Consent is everything.

Makes sense to me. I wouldn't say all value is derived from outcomes--I'd say the mere possibility or potential of some bad happening presents a value in itself, because you can be the stopper. But even then, the prevented act is still a positive outcome.

Never precisely, but we don't need precision 99% of the time.

Absolutely not. If you think you should stop writing your magnum opus of a novel just because you were predetermined to write it, doesn't mean that you should still probably finish the novel. We all have roles to fulfill. You can't just walk off the stage during the show.

What made you become vegan? When did you decide to denounce animal products from your life, and how do you approach grocery shopping?

I mean, ever since I was little, I thought the fact that we killed animals just for our food was horrible, but I figured it was okay, because everyone else does it. Then I got smarter, and just used the excuse of, "Well, it would just be a drop in the bucket if I became vegan. Not to mention, some of my favorite food isn't vegan." But then I got over that, too.

I made the decision over a year ago.

Grocery shopping is much easier than you'd think. Much of what you don't buy is just common sense, and if there ever happens to be a food you've been buying that isn't vegan, it's simple enough to stop purchasing it and find a suitable alternative.

Is it more expensive to eat vegan?

I ask because I'm a carnivore simply out of lack of willpower; I can't find a good ethical defence for meat-eating.

It's no more expensive than any other diet, really. You just have to know where to go and what to buy. Don't buy packages that are suited for vegans--those are indeed more expensive. You can get fresh fruits, vegetables, and wheat products for dirt cheap.

It also helps to have an open mind. Be willing to try new foods that you may not like. Soon, your options won't seem so narrow anymore.

I'm not the best person to answer this question, really, but I finally found this brand of imitation chicken strips that I'm quite partial to. Imitation meat isn't for everyone, but it's worth definitely a try for those willing to dip their toes into the lifestyle.
