Srs dilemma: I got invited to go on a vacation for a week to my friends beach house in Mexico. My dilemma is that i get the vibe that his family is involved in cartel/drug stuff(however this is just a hunch). How bad is the current situation in Mexico right now? Would a white looking American be relatively safe? Thx

Tijuana is dangerous, most cities on the US/Mexico border are the danger zones so stay away from those.

Ask, the northern states are alright (but still not very safe), it's the southern states you want to stay away from, because you'll fucking get kidnapped and killed.

I've heard nothing but bad things from people who did missionary work in Mexico. A friend stayed at a church, I forget where. Well apparently the Pastor's wife was beheaded while she was over there, and they had to leave.

On their way towards the border, they saw a police car chasing a truck and they were shooting at each other.
