This is a tricky one. There are several layers to this meme, and it can also be interpreted in several different ways. The original image was said to be from the future.
Many a memer have wondered if, perhaps, the meme was only from several hours in the future originally, and the reference was to the picture that was first posted (chronologically speaking). This is possible because when the image was originally posted, it was not a meme. It was only a meme once it got spread around and people began to recognize it. Therefore, in acknowledging the meme from the future, they were created the meme from the future, in their present. This is what I believe, and I took this into consideration while crafting this meme.
The meme you see above you is referencing the fact that everybody now recognizes the image, and the image is now a meme, even if it is not one in the way that everyone thought it would be.
I hope this makes sense, and helps you understand this interesting memetic phenomenon.
