Modding is closer to getting a Lego kit and not following the manual than it is to editing a movie and reselling it.
if its his right and you don't have to participate would you think its wrong for him to allow people that freedomAnd would you say it would be a more accurate parallel if it wasn't his own carpet, but a copy of that carpet he gave you, in which his own is untouchedGames often have settings or such so the player can choose how they want to play the game, its a flexibility the developer gives the userWould you not say that a game built on a platform designed to be mod friendly with a creator that invites people to develop their own content is the same flexibility, and is modding technically wrong if the creator knowingly allows modification on a copy of their product that doesn't affect their own
