then there are stupid people.

Of course that's quite an absurd statement, and thus there are stupid questions. Then again, questions are objective, and thus not stupid, but if a person can't arrive at an obvious answer, then that person is stupid.

Conclusion: There aren't any stupid questions, just people being stupid.

My English professor last semester began his course by saying, "All questions are stupid. But that doesn't mean you should feel stupid for asking them."

Symbols that activate symbols.

Pieces that require other pieces to fit in.

Those are my two definitions where both are valid.

Edit: To answer one's own question is to rationalize the missing symbols/pieces.
