If robot bodies were invented, would you get one?

What would be the point?
Look exactly how you want, no risk of stupid injury throughout the day, no need for daily sanitation and preparation, no need for nutrition or risk of overeating, no risk of internal health problems such as organ failures, no risk of external health problems such as viruses or sicknesses or allergies, no need to worry about the heat or the cold, and so on

Oh.

Yeah, sure. Sign me up. Not having to eat and being able to choose what you look like would be perf.

It depends. I would be cool as hell and super practical, but I imagine there'd have to be quite a level of maintenance. Also, what are we powered by? Does our energy need to be recharged? If so, how often? Also, are we tied to any kind of data centers or corporations in any way? Details.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
Robot body yes

I don't want to live forever, though.

Absolutely, if the mechanics were on par or greater than a human's reaction time and movements.

I'd rather have all of this without the robot body.

Machines can malfunction--this would be an absolute nightmare.

Nope. Maybe mechanical augmentations to finally achieve super human prowess, but I would not go full roboto.

i would because then I could put my human mind into robot brain and copy paste myself into multiple robots if I die in one robot body

Also, the costs for this sort of thing would be astronomical.

And can you imagine the potential for abuse of this sort of thing?

God, there's so many underlying issues with this. Why would anybody want this?

I might have thought this sort of thing would be "cool" when I was, like... eight, but I'm a little bit past that phase now.

In my view, it's only trading one set of issues for another.

Robots are vulnerable to water (generally speaking) whereas humans aren't, but you can operate a robot in the void or a toxic enviroment without too many issues.

Computer viruses would be no different to human diseases, some are minor annoyances and some are fatal.

Or say someone damages the data or parts of your robot body, that's no different to GBH.

The big differences would just be how durable your new form is and whether or not you want shiny laser eyes to go with it.

I'm thinking of all the ways this could be heavily corrupted to the darker parts of human nature. Like, let's assume for a second that said robot bodies are identical to whatever they're based off of. No uncanny valley effect.

All those couples into bestiality would have a field day. Just upload your brain into a robo dog and plow your wife. Honestly, the very concept or putting your head into a machine "avatar" of sorts has so many implications.

Heh.

Sexual Revolution 2.0

To answer your question, no.

Rather than getting a body honestly I'd just prefer to have bits of me replaced with functioning replicas.

If it's thoroughly tested and upgrades are easy (why have the same body for 20 years?), then sure. Immortality.

You either die a hero or live long enough to become Mythic..
Definitely if I had a deadly disease, large physical injuries or just old.

However since I am none of those at this time, I like my skin.
you didn't invite me to your halo game night

You ended up in it anyways.
